Avid MC - avoiding re-renders

I’m new to Sapphire so I’m hoping this is an easily answered question.

Let’s say I place a DefocusPrism effect on a clip on V2 and render it. If I move the clip to another place on the timeline and it what’s on the layer below (V1) changes, the effect needs to be re-rendered.

Is there a way to avoid this? I thought changing “Background” to “This track” would do it, but it seems not.

This is really a host issue with how images are rendered. Anytime you change the background underneath a Sapphire effect in MC, its going to require a re-render. The “Background” parameter is used to select a different background track in MC, ie one track below.

Thank you for explaining, Brian.
