BCC Flicker Fixer for FCP?

I just installed the latest Continuum for my FCP 10.6.5. I was reading about BCC Flicker Fixer in the BorisFX online documentation and would like to use it but can’t find it among my BCC Image Restoration effects. Actually, I don’t see a lot of the effects listed in the online dox for Image Restoration in my system, just Beauty Studio, DeBand, DeBlock and Magic Sharp. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Hi Jaeson.

The main reason for the difference that you’re seeing in regard to the installed plugins is due to restrictions in the Apple FxPlug 4 API. As Apple moves to ease some of those temporal restrictions and expands the API so that we can access more frames in time, we can bring more Continuum filters into the FCP host.

Thanks,
Peter.

Since flicker fixer is absent in Continuum, I’ve had to look for other options. One trial version I’m looking at is from Digital Anarchy. They seem to have a time radius setting to define a range of frames to evaluate, breaking the temporal barrier of the Apple FxPlug somehow. I’ll take a look at a few alternative plugins, but I’m a long time BorisFX user and I’d rather just use a BCC plugin than need to get something else.

Hi Jaeson,

Thanks for mentioning the fact that DA is available in FxPlug. I’m discussing this with engineering to see if it might be possible for us to port over the BCC Flicker Fixer to FxPlug for FCP and Motion. I know that doesn’t help you at the moment but at least DA is an alternate solution for this and that plugin does a really good job at reducing and removing flicker.

Cheers,
Peter.
