I am having difficulty tracking a fake unicorn horn on a horse head. A new CG unicorn horn will be composited over the old one.
The horses head moves all over the place in all directions, rotates and has shadows being cast. Any recommendations or tips for tracking? I am still in the learning curve process for Mocha Pro.
Here is the video file I am trying to track.
This is a really good candidate for the 3D solver, you might want to take a look at this tutorial here: Boris FX | Videos
The track on the horses head should be pretty straightforward, track the top plane of the head that the horn is attached to, don’t track the horn.
You’ll need to do a remove to get the horn out of the shot.
Please let me know if you have any more questions and I will be happy to help.
Thanks Mary! I will give it a go and let you know if I stumble upon any roadblocks.
So my track of the horse is better after watching the tutorial you posted, but the track is still not what I am looking for. Any advice?https://www.dropbox.com/s/q198gskuq51sw0u/UnicornTracking.mocha?dl=0
Thanks for your help so far.
Try tracking translation, scale, and rotation only and try tracking a larger part of the head. Your horn track is all over the place, that’s why you are getting poor results.
