HELP PI won't open

I’ve downloaded the particle illusion stand alone program and it won’t stay open after installation.
It opens for about 15 to 20 seconds and then it shuts. Not sure why as I have to previous version from 2012.
I did file a ticket but they suggested to post in this group.
Any help please let me know.
My computer is about 10 years old, (I think)
running: Windows 10 Home
Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 CPU @ 3.1GHz
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Are you doing anything when it closes? Or are you saying it opens, then closes without you interacting with it in any way?

Does the library window show its contents or are you seeing the “loading emitter libraries…” text message instead? I’m wondering if it’s hitting a bad library and then crashing. Did you install the additional emitter libraries?

I installed the emitter libraries. I installed the standalone and emitters.
I’m doing nothing but waiting, no interaction with it. It’s like a big black screen with only the top tabs showing.
It suddenly disappears after about 20-30 seconds. Not sure what to do.
I’ve uninstalled and re-installed a few times now…

I wonder if it’s a graphics driver issue. Have you tried updating your drivers?

No. I just wanted to try this version out. I’ve been using the old one.
I’m getting a new computer at the end of November, I guess I can wait till then,
