Importing masks from Photoshop

I’m trying to import an image from a Photoshop smart object into Optics. When I do so the mask is imported, but all the masked areas of the image are black and are not available to edit in Optics. When I copy the imported mask to new layers it doesn’t appear to actually mask anything. I feel like I must be doing something wrong.I’ve tried with both rasterized and smart objects.

Welcome @stevenforde By default, the Optics Viewer Preview icon defaults to Preview Over Black.

Set it to RGB Straight to see the masked out areas.

Thanks Marco, I’ll view the video and hopefully will see where I’m going wrong.
