Matte clip import results in crash - every single time

Hi There,
You’re running in an unlicensed version of the software, in LE mode. Thats why you can’t get results. Let me know if you have any questions.

If you want to send me the clip in question, I will test to see if there is a solution: martinb[at] imagineersystems{dot} com.

I’ve tested this and it appears to be working correctly.

What is the format of the footage you are working with?

I’m not sure that’s the case, LE mode shouldn’t affect what mocha can and can’t read.

I have tried .mov - with animation codec, tiff sequences, tga sequences and a couple others - I know the footage is not corrupt because if I just start a new project and open it in Mocha it opens just fine. The problem only occurs when I try to import it as a Matte Clip, and I’m pretty sure its the ‘conversion’ its trying to do. Is there a way to produce a ‘gray-level 8bit’ render in AE so that way Mocha doesn’t have to do it - I think this might fix the problem.
Thanks martinb

I have searched all over and have found no results… Maybe somebody can help me here - All I am trying to do is import a simple matte clip into mocha from after effects, and it crashes every time…
I have tried every kind of format I can think of - .mov, tga and tiff sequences and a few others all with the same result.
I select my layer - then Matte clip - Import.
Once the import clip dialog box opens I select my file and click ok - Mocha seems to hang here for roughly 20 seconds then allows me to change any options, which I dont need to - everything is okay here so I click Import.
Then a notification window opens stating ‘The format of the clip is RGB. mocha for After Effects will convert the clip to grey-level 8-bit,’
I think this seems okay and click OK which is quickly followed by a crash.
I just got done doing a complete reinstall of the entire CS5 suite thinking that would fix it and no change.
It seems to me that whenever Mocha is trying to ‘convert’ the clip is when it crashes.
I’m lost…
Running Windows 7 Pro 64bit
Mocha 2.2.0 CS5 build 2626
