Mocha AE will not launch in AE 2022

When I apply the Mocha AE effect in Adobe After Effects 2022 and click the Mocha AE icon to launch it does not launch. Is there a way to trouble shoot this?

What system are you running? Do you see the Mocha process in the task manager/activity monitor?

Same thing is happening to me. Just tried reinstalling After Effects, updated drivers, restarted computer. I even disabled one of my monitors. I launch, and nothing happens.

Happened before and after the After Effects 22.1 update.

Windows 10, fully updated.

I don’t see Mocha in the task manager

Can you let me know your current drivers?

If you go here: %localappdata%\BorisFX\mocha.log do you see the Mocha log file on Windows?
If you’re not sure where “localappdata” is, it’s normally your user folder, i.e /Users/[yourusername]/AppData/local"

I can see the Mocha log file when I go to %localappdata%\BorisFX\mocha.log

This was the last attempt

Okay, this suggests you’re failing right before GPU initialization (i.e the GPU initialization is probably the crash point).

Can you tell me your current CPUs and GPUs and the drivers they are using?

Was this issue ever resolved? I’m having a very similar issue here…

Sounds like a GPU issue. Are you able to launch at all or is it hanging on launch?

It doesn’t open at all. I’ll click the Mocha box to open the editing window, but it never opens. After giving me the loading wheel for a moment, it just stops and resumes After Effects like I never opened it.

OK, I am going to loop @martinb back in to investigate this with you then, this looks like an ongoing bug.

Just an update: This appears to be an Intel driver issue. We are investigating a way around this, but in the meantime, you can perform a registry edit to avoid the problem.
