New PC, Graphics card? is bigger more expensive better?

Hi, Loving Continuum but my PC freezes up or crashes if i ask too much of it, ( I’m sure this has been talked about many times ), so i’m going to buy a much better PC, so my simple questions are.
Is a better Graphics card, more cores/threads, going to make a significantly big difference & is there a limit to how good or how much you/i spend on one?
The producers of these programs I’m presuming use a pro system of some kind, what do they use?
My PC which works quite well but like i say i’m going to buy a super dooper machine -

Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2 Drive
