R3D workflow advice

Hi Everyone!

I’m about to begin a cleanup session in a few day with 4K R3D footage but it’ll be my first foray into tracking with R3D. The shot lasts about 30 seconds and I’ll be using Mocha Pro 3.2.2. Before I begin I hoping for any advice or considerations for an easy workflow. Has anyone had any trouble working with R3D footage? Will it slow me down incredibly?

I’ll be working on a 2012 MacBook Pro with 16 GB RAM. Oh and the export from AE needs to stay R3D…no transcoding upon export.

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

In mocha V3 and beyond, in the top left of your viewport, you can turn loaded R3D footage into a proxy mode, this will vastly improve performance. By default the setting is 1:1, but for R3D you’ll want 1:4 probably.

You should just zoom along after that. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help!

Cheers,

Mary
