Stabilizing a zoom sequence

Half way through a clip to be stabilized I have a zoom sequence. I have no problem with fixed distant shots. However, the pixel pattern within an X spline layer of a zoomed sequence is changing.

Is it possible to stabilize a zoomed sequence?

It is possible, but the resolution will still change because it is changing in the original shot, so it might blur as it zooms out. Scale is the property that you want to use to stabilize zoom.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help.

Thanks Mary.

In my case, there was a zoom in. Previously I had separated a zoom section of a clip from the rest of the clip. In this case, the zoom in was included and the X spline layer was expanded with the keys to include a similar area as the image expanded. I have also found that fewer keys are better than too many since trying to keep the X spline layer perfectly targeted to a shifting image point, the image becomes jumpy.

I am amazed at how well the whole clip including the zoom was stabilized.

The power of planar tracking.

I am very glad you got it to work like you wanted so quickly!
