Track face for 3d model

I have some clips that I’m trying to track and composite a 3D model into. This is a frame from the video:

I used some dots on my face to help the track. I have a 3D mask that I brought in using Element 3D. I’m open to another solution, but this was the first thing that came to mind.

Is Mocha the best option for tracking the mask to my face? Is Element 3D the best option for compositing the mask? I’m kind of at a loss for the best method to be using here. The BG shot is handheld so there’s some subtle movement so I would think I need to track the background as well as the face.

Hi there,

Have you checked out Martin’s tutorials on mocha, AE, and Element 3D?

Part two seems to be missing, but part 1 will get you through the mocha tracking part for sure. It looks like mocha will track this in 3D no problem, but I haven’t seen the shot in motion. You do, however, seem to have the right amount of planes to track.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help you.

Cheers,
Mary

That’s definitely got me headed in the right direction. Thanks!
