Tracking a head

shot is on blue screen. I want to track a spline that will be used as a mask to remove a guy’s head and replace it with a speaking balloon. It doesn’t seem to be any faster than manually tracking a mask in After Effects. Any suggestions to improve my workflow?

Here are 3 frames. Of course the head moves somewhat, but I need an accurate mask only for his collar.

It really depends on the shot and the movement of the head. If the head is relatively forward facing, I can imagine the planar tracker to work nicely… if the head is rotating (looking around or drastic movements) then it will be challenging to get a good track.

If you want to post some frames, I’m happy to take a look.
Best,
Ross
