Tracking face that turns & hides tracked part temporarily

I am tracking a face to get rid of deep lines, to make the person look much younger, using the method shown in “Digital Makeup & Age Techniques with Boris FX, mocha and After Effects”. But the actor turns his face so that the tracking outline has nothing to track and gives an error. Sorry for the newbie error/question, but can I stop the tracking when he turns his head and then resume when he turns it back? As you can see from the photos, the crows feet totally disappear from one side when he turns to the other. The cheeks as well. While the lines on the side of the mouth do not disappear entirely, they become very hard to track. Thank you for any help

In that particular instance, you’d be better off creating two separate masks and tracking the second mask backward from a good position to the turn point rather than trying to wrangle one mask to do the whole job.
It’s more work to make it fit everything rather than working in pieces.

Dear MartinB,
Thank you for your help.
Working on it. But it is going to be a lot of masks. The actor does a lot of face dancing (borrowed term from Dune).
Thanks again
