Tracking just isn't accurate

for some stupid reason my tracking just isn’t accurate for the whole clip.
i’m trying to stabilize a girl’s face and it’s ok for about half the clip, and then suddenly the tracker slides from it’s place and i have no idea why.

please help.
are there any fine tuning tools i can use to increase the efficiency of my tracking?

i’ve uploaded the file to my server, if you could have a look at it and lend some help i’d be so appreciative.

Am I looking for a substantial shift or a subtle one here?
Are you deleting either Anchor Point or Position when you paste the data into AE?
If you are trying to stabilise using this data, there are expressions you need to use on the rotation and scale channels - see page 47-48 in the user manual.

Hi Joshua,

I tried this clip, just drew a shape similar to yours and hit track, perfect results in mocha v2.0.2. I also tried it in mocha for After Effects CS5 (the version that came in the August update) and got the same results.

I didn’t change any settings, everything was at default.

Which version of mocha are you using? The core tracker hasn’t changed significantly since mocha v1, so you should be able to get the result in any of our products.

Best regards,

J-P

BTW, if you want to get the best guide to planar tracking, watch Steve Wright’s video tutorials at:

really?
that’s very frustrating simply because i’m using version 2.2.0 and it’s NOT working.

do you think i need to install anything? an update?

i’m really at wits end trying to figure out why it’s just not working for me.

thanks
