no matter how many times I enter the key and reboot the computer it still says unlicensed… even though once I add the key it says licensed successfully
From the running plugin what does it say after you launch the License dialog? Does it say it is licensed there? If so they maybe you have cached frames with the watermarks, so purging any host media caches or pre-renders might get rid of them. Beyond that most licensing issues are best addressed by filing a support case.
I had the same issue with Continuum in Vegas Pro. I would always get the watermark saying that the software was in trial mode, even though I was able to enter the key successfully. What worked for me was
- Uninstall all the borisfx products, which was in my case were Continuum and Mocha Pro.
- Restart the computer
3 Install one Boris fx product one at a time and activate them before installing the next product
